I've had such a similar experience... I made friends I talk to almost every day, and we're still performing together, too!

I met my wife in an improv jam, so hell yes!

But I'm curious; what does an improv jam entail for everyone's cities? In Columbus, the Nest does Reps where you do longform scenes; outside of that, there are meetups that are primarily short form games. I'm just curious what others run in to!

In the Chicago suburbs at the Bit, we have a monthly Jam. We do a group round of intros/check ins then a warm up. Then the Jam facilitator selects names out of a jar for short form games. Then the group (usually around a dozen people) is divided into two teams and we do long form sets.

It’s awesome. I love getting to try new forms and meet other improvisers in the community. I was already married when I started improv, but I met my two prov teammate at a Jam.

Fascinating! I got the vibe from so many different podcasts that so many improv jams are longform, which feels off for what I tend to run in to (improv jams primarily for newer players who just want Whose Line esque things), so hearing that there are jams that are a mixture helps too.

I appreciate this, thank you!
